Saddam Hussein Execution Caught on Cellphone Video

Yet another example of how viral marketing campaigns spread because of technology – but in this case, the “marketing campaign” is a morbid execution of Iraq’s former dictator, Saddam Hussein.
The video has spread over the Bluetooth airwaves and thumbdrives across Internet cafes and social gatherings. The people of Iraq, according to CNN have been spreading the video as final proof that the dictator is finally dead.
It doesn’t make sense however to actually have the resources to film this video – unless security was very lax. The video was recorded in plain sight of the execution with officials and guards on duty. But then again, letting a mobile phone slip through plain sight and record the video in the most private of places is nothing new to us.
Should this video have been posted? A comment made at Lost Remote says:
i just saw the cell phone video of his hanging…. it’s macabe and disguisting. barbarism in the 21st century. how could bush consider himself a man of god when he and president cheney have caused so many thousands of deaths. iraq was a lie – and more con tinue to die… no wmd’s no connection whatsoever to 9-11. violence begets more violence. look at the atrition provided apartied in south africa – a far more enlightened approach… but today – it’s a very sick era we live in…
On the other hand, another comment does not mind the posting of the video for everyone to see:
i believe we should be able to see the death of saddam for several reasons one being we seen our on hanging fron a bridge another is we seen people jumping to their on death from a burning building if i had seen what happens to bad people i would have chosen another route for my life
At the end of the day, this incident is merely an affirmation of the TIME’s Man of the Year is .. YOU! campaign because it allows just anybody VIP access into anything and then some.
Is it a question about whether this video was shown or not or whether authorities should just accept the fact that this type of viral phenomena is something here to stay? Free speech has never been more free because of the camera phone.

Not something I would want to see.
