Sidekick 2008 via Gizmodo

You know, come to think of it, we’ve never really seen mobile phones named after the year they were released. Traditional naming conventions are either too cryptic to be determined, are named via the “generation” of release (1st gen MacBook, 2nd gen MacBook) but never really by their year of make.

Well, the rumored Sidekick Gecko is now here, allegedly, and it is now being called the Sidekick 2008. Like yeah, a huge punch in the face – it’s 2008 and the Sidekick is baaaack!

i can actually say that this is true. I work next to a T-mobile and go in there all the time when im on my breaks (idk why i just do) and one of the guys let me play with one of the dummy phones they had. IT IS WAY SMALLER THAN THE LX AND THE SLIDE. out of all the sidekicks, this thing is tiny, nonetheless the keyboard is great and favors the same keyboard as the LX. also the silver part (also the green part of the phone for some of you who have seen the rumor shots of the gecko) is actually customizable with a number of different faceplates. Had to ask about the new sidekicks since T-Mobile won’t be carrying the Blackberry Bold DAMMIT !!!!!1

Another thing, I consider this a mix between the iD and the LX

I went to a tmobile store last night and the girl let me play with the dumby version and then the REAL one..the camera is amazing, and it’s got video recording on it. The weight and size are remarkable for the phone, so no bulky brick or long plank to carry around. When I tested it out it seemed to function just fine, but I think I’ll let the hype die down and let them work out any kinks it may have before I fork out the $250 (with a $50 mail in rebate) with a full upgrade.

I got the Sidekick Gecko for free a couple of days before it was released and I’d like to say that the phone is great!

I’ve never had a Sidekick before and I thought it was going to be really bulky and weird to play around with because of the small keyboard, but it works fine.

True it’s a little smaller then most sidekicks, but it functions just as well.

S000 wats good about this kik then the lx.Seems just like an lx but diffrent color and a bit smaller. Why should I buy it? We all know that t-mobile sidekicks are never going to have touch pad so be real! Ite
