Social networking and being more “fluid”

Arrington from Tech Crunch has some thoughts about an iPhone-only social network. Branding from the elitist persona of Apple fanboys (like me, kidding) allows such things to become quick realities.
I personally think that these niche social networking applications (like that on the iPhone) is highly “liquidated” only when the application is very much integrated into the system, you barely have to do anything. So if the iPhone, for instance gets an update where your iChat friends are automatically tracked, you have an instant community. And you didn’t even have to sign up.
This is partly why FaceBook is going for the whole out-of-Facebook widgets. Opening up the poking and sheep throwing to the entire world makes the user experience more natural.
