Sony Ericsson K800i

So the word has been spreading about the new Sony Ericsson K800i, codenamed ‘Wilma’ which brings you to places far from the prehistoric connotations.
Phoneyworld has written a short preview about it and I’m going to build on to give my take. The first notable thing with it K800i is its physical elegance taking most of what SE learned from the K750i and sprinkled it with a slightly more curves.
Essentially the K800i is a combination of the K750i’ elegance, the W800i’s expansion and the W550i’s additional features which the former never had, like stereo speakers. The main addition to the K800i is the 3.2MP camera upping the bar of cameraphones for 2006. Yes, 3MP is now mainstream.
It has 3.2 megapixel camera, a superb QVGA display – thats 16 million colors with 240 x 320 resolution size of the display. The phone itself has 466 Mbs of memory on it, and if you think thats not enough then make sure you get one of those high end Memory stick Pro duo cards that this handset supports.
The K800i also has stereo speakers which serve as an excellent sound system. Besides the megapixel camera, the EDGE compliant phone also has a smaller camera for video conferencing. Bluetooth (latest version 2.0 supported). One may recall that aound the same time last year, we had heard and reported about the SonyEricsson Clara. Better known to us today by the name of the SonyEricsson K750i , that was and remains a best seller. The K800i is a very good successor to that handset and should easily set benchmarks.

It does look pretty damn sexy. I have the K750i and I think it’s still too good to trade in for this.
It doesn’t have 16 million colors, it doesn’t have 466 Mbs of memory on it and it doesn’t support memory stick duo cards. Who wrote that crap?
