Probably the wet dream of phones for 2006 and 2007. The SE P990i is what I would call the “perfect phone” because it boasts an extremely stable operating system, 1,000 address book contacts (SE in the beginning only had 500 – 510), WiFi, Bluetooth and three methods of input!

Imagine a QWERTY keyboard, a regular numerical pad and stylus driven input all in one package. Plus the fact that you can connect via EDGE, GPRS or WiFi.

This is perhaps the best phone you can get that isn’t a Treo. Without a plan, the phone retails for about $800.00 but it is actually worth it, come to think. If you already have a mobile computer, this phone will give you a ligther “secondary” office suite that will never leave you hanging.

  1. I currently have the sonyericsson p910i and would like to get the new p990i at a good price here in the UK- any ideas where?

not sure about the UK release but since it was rolled out in Asia recently then it should only be a matter of weeks. :)

  3. Mark Palkhivala says:

Correction: the P990i does not support EDGE. It supports GPRS, UMTS or WiFi.

I have got a P990i recently in Ghana. I like it but there is one problem, it starts with a vodaphone logo. There are other things inside like internet link to vodaphone webside, email vodaphone server, etc. How to take it out and have starting with sonyericsson logo and all other things also sonyericsson?
I have already tried with the internet update service and it directs me to the vodaphone UK without any choice. Anyone up there to tell me what to do?

I have been a P900 & a P910 user. I was so happy with both model, that I decided to purchase a P990i as an upgrade. I was so disappointed with the P990i, everything doesn’t seem to work. I have the phone upgraded twice. Its a lemon.

I’m in love with Sony Ericsson phones because they’re good and quality. I’m currently using K750i which is also a good and i’m able to store 120songs on it via the memory card and i’m looking forward to purchase the P990i next year. Please, I would like to
know if i could also expand the memory to 1GB or 2GB on the P990i via the memory card so i could also download more music on it because i like music lot. I would also like to know if the P990i has a Mega Bass function to enhance the sound quality. I would also like to know if the phone comes with a stero headset. Thanks.
