For those of you who have been fans of Nokia and never looked back, you may have noticed a little application called “Switch” under the Tools folder. This has been an offering that came with some of the latter phones in ‘08. The Switch app lets you synchronize data between two Nokia phones via Bluetooth or data. For instance, if you have a new Nokia phone (an N86 pictured here), you can transfer all your data from your previous Nokia phone (the Nokia E71) simply by running Switch. Samsung introduces S9110 Watch Phone

What’s with the watch phones? First, LG introduced their version of the watch phone that used voice activated commands and Bluetooth to communicate with others via a headset.
Today the Samsung S9110 is really more of a statement that we’ll be seeing more of these watches that double as phones in the future. Seems like a pretty standard package to communicate — voice commands are in, but I’m not quite sure if this has a Bluetooth headset package. Studies on Gesture Controls

There’s a philosophy behind the design of every Nokia technology and now they’re showing us what’s up with gesture controls. When I was sent to Nokia Connection ‘09 the only semblance of gesture control was the turning over ringing phone to turn it to silent mode. Newer phone models allow you to put your palm over the screen to automatically silence it. An additional “palm to face” on the phone sends an SMS saying “sorry I’m in a meeting — call you later.”
