However, what was hoping to be a successful beginning to the iPhone’s run in China, has now turned into a huge disappointment for the folks at Apple.

South Korea’s main carrier, KT, already has 60, 000 pre-orders for the iPhone, which hasn’t even been launched there. To top it off, KT only has 14 million users compared to China Unicom’s 140 million subscribers.

Those are some really crappy sales in a country that holds about 1.3 billion residents. Hopefully, sales increase in the next few months.

Don’t mistake this for Nikon’s DSLR! Chinese manufacturer TORQUE has released the D90, a dual SIM / dual Standby mobile phone. It comes with FM Radio, a 1.3MP camera, GPRS, MMS, microSD card, Bluetooth with A2DP support.

For an affordable mobile phone, the D90 is elegant to the touch and light. A small note — when phone manufacturers say that a phone is “dual SIM” enabled, you need to check if it is also dual standby enabled. This simply means that despite being a dual SIM phone, the other SIM is active while the current SIM is processing information. This simply means that despite being a dual SIM phone, the other SIM is active while the current SIM is processing information. For instance, if you’re in the middle of a call with line A, your secondary line should still be able to receive SMS in the background while you’re talking. A small thing, but that defines the fine line between good and bad dual SIM phones.

China made TORQUE phones are fast becoming a staple in the Asian market. Not only are they cheap, they’re pretty efficient as well. The D100 is TORQUE’s latest mobile handset that, not surprisingly, retails for less than $100. It’s most highlighted feature is its DUAL SIM network compatibility, thus making this the cheapest dual SIM phone in the market.
I’d really love to know how much dual SIM technology costs. As I was told, the most expensive component thus far for mobile phones is the WiFi chip that extends to about USD $10.00. If the Chinese phone manufacturing market boosted their global marketing, they would come up with hit phones such as this one.

The phone comes with a built in antenna that receives television broadcast signals. What it basically is – a phone with built in local television. Though the quality isn’t very spectacular, it still is pretty decent to become engaged in your favorite soap opera or football game when you’re commuting.

The portable television concept has been introduced months ago with the advent of DVB-H technology. These phones (mostly Nokia) must run on a subscription plan and cost a little bit on the steep side. This particular China unit doesn’t need any subscription and it costs less than USD $300.00.

The unit comes with Bluetooth and a stylus for a touch screen user interface. Funny, I actually forgot the name of the unit
