Sony Ericsson has coined the Cybershot name into its mobile phones as early as they were confident that the quality of photos matched their point and shoot line. Correct me if I’m wrong but this happened when the autofocus feature was introduced into their cam-phones. Today, SE goes further with their C905 Cybershot that comes with a 8.1MP camera with the real flash you find in today’s modern P&S’s. It also comes with a 2.4 inch screen – that’s a whee bit less of a DSLR’s LCD!
So is it a camera or a phone? We don’t really know anymore. [...]
Post from: Cellphone9

So is it a camera or a phone? We don’t really know anymore. Does this eat into the market of their point and shoots? Probably. Probably not. There has to be a catch somewhere and it might have to do with battery life or processing speed. All we know is that this thing is coming in the end game of Q4 2008.

Sony Ericsson has added another cameraphone to its bag of tricks and is showing it off for CeBIT 2006.
The Cybershot k800’s “special power” is that it helps noobs take good pictures by allowing them to choose between nine shots taken with one camera click.
Yes, the k800’s 3.2MP camera actually takes 9 shots when you press the shutter button. Four shots at half press – then the actual shot – and four more after pressing. So the eight images you get that sandwich the “real” image are pre and post flash pictures that vary in their lighting. Impressive. Innovative.

Press release excerpt:

A completely new feature developed by Sony Ericsson is BestPic™, which ensures that you never ‘miss’ an important picture. Press the shutter button once and get 9 full quality 3.2 megapixel pictures to choose from in a time sequence – 4 pictures before and 4 pictures after the actual image you captured. All 9 pictures are displayed as icons on the display. Simply scroll backwards and forwards through the 9 images and save the ones you like best.
