]]> Aside from the more or less $100 price difference, here are some other differences between the Nokia E63 and the Nokia E71. Both of these phones are very similar in features and look but there are some differences worth noting in making some informed buying decisions:

1. The E63 comes with a flashlight button option. Hold a button down, and the flash LED light comes on. The E71 doesn’t have this feature.

2. While the E71 is locked, pressing the center button will show a quick time check.

3. The E63’s spacebar is significantly smaller than the E71’s spacebar in the thumb board.

4. The E71 can support HSDPA. The E63 only supports 3G. Choosing either is a matter of preference in browsing style plus in several countries, the difference between HSDPA and 3G is barely noticeable.

5. The E71 comes with a 3.2MP camera while the E63 comes with a 2.0MP camera. Barely any difference here.

6. There are less buttons on the side for the E63. For instancem volume control is easier to adjust on the E71 because of the buttons on the side.

7. The E71 does not have a 3.5mm jack. The E63 has one.

The Nokia E63 is the cheaper brother to the more elegant E71. Slightly thicker with more playful colors of blue and “Space Marine” red, the E63 boasts a similar form factor sans the secondary camera, HSDPA. It also comes with a lower resolution 2MP camera as compared to the E71’s 3.2MP camera. Truthfully, this is not a bad deal if you’ve always wanted to own an E71 but could not spare the extra cash. The phone is obviously targeted to compete with the Palm Centro which caters to a more young and hip market that desires much for a QWERTY keyboard.

One thing that the E63 has that the E71 doesn’t — a 3.5mm audio output! The E71 only has a 2.5mm which means you’d have to find a third party adapter to plug in your regular headphones.
