LG recently unveiled their new solar power technology for mobile phones, giving users 3 minutes worth of calls for 10 minutes of exposure to sunlight. The phone’s solar technology is harnessed from the battery cover, giving it access to unlimited charging potential. According to them, exposure to natural light allows enough standby time to last forever, never needing a charge.

Nokia’s developing a Zero Waste charger. Gave away a solar powered accessory last week. And now Apple’s turning the iPhone green as well, with solar panels. Yep, call it pressure or part of a bigger corporate vision, but the iPhone is in tweaks to receive a solar charge.
Call it a hybrid of sorts, because the new iPhone in the works (highly doubt it is this one that’s coming in June) will also have a standard lithium ion pack as a backup battery.

Nokia’s developing a Zero Waste charger. Gave away a solar powered accessory last week. And now Apple’s turning the iPhone green as well, with solar panels.
Call it a hybrid of sorts, because the new iPhone in the works (highly doubt it is this one that’s coming in June) will also have a standard lithium ion pack as a backup battery.

My brazened prediction: the future holds a boundless source of solar energy for portable devices. This actually won’t just be because of a function on going environmentally safe, but more so because of new kick ass features that would literally bump off standard battery to a halt. A seemingly limitless battery to run high demand features is very possible.

Ladies and gents, presenting the world’s cheapest phone. And it isn’t just available in the USA — but worldwide too. if you can get your hands on one, please don’t get ripped off. Don’t spend more than $10.00 to buy your ultimate “built for Sparta” mobile phone. The Hop-On 1800 comes with the following specs:

Size: 96.6mm(D)x41.6mm(W)x14mm(H)
Weight: 77g
Bands: Dual-band 850/1900MHz or 900/1800MHz
Battery: Standard Li-Ion 600mAh
Battery Life: Talk time 4 hours; Standby time 150 hours
Ringer: Polyphonic (16 Midi)
Embedded Vibration: Yes
SIM Lock: Yes
Keypad Lock: Yes
Other features: No display, tactile keypad with braille markings

Oh, we were saying something about bringing the price down even further — you can actually grab a $5.00 rebate if you return the phone and have it recycled. What a neat-o way to go green!

Branding Opportunities

Instead of the usual pen or notebook with your corporate logo for giveaways, why not give away Hop1800 mobile phones to everyone who attended your press event? Oh yes, this phone is so cheap, your company can even brand the Hop-On 1800 to suit your marketing needs. How to do this? Well, head on over to their site.

I think this is the first time where we have a phone that has accessories more expensive than the unit itself! The phone supports a headset, a leather case, travel charger and car charger.

A huge congratulations to Lori Drohan from NJ! She won the Iqua Solar Powered BT Headset we had up for grabs last month. Lori was picked using the Luck of the Draw application for raffles.
Lori’s answer to the question “What charges you up?” was I get a charge every time I am able to replace something that leaves too many carbon footprints with something Greener!
How appropriate! And for being the lucky winner, you won yourself a device that feeds power directly from the sun!
