Hey Missing Sync users, have you received this in the mail:

As a valued customer, we would like to offer you the latest version of The Missing Sync for Palm OS for only $19.95, regularly $39.95, through February 11, 2009.

Act now and get The Missing Sync for Palm OS, version 6.0.4, with new features including:

* Full support for Palm Centro
* Enhanced synchronization between Palm Memo and Mark/Space Notebook
* Call Log archiving
* SMS Log archiving
* Video syncing to and from your Treo or Centro

I sure did. Missing Sync is perhaps the bastion of sync tools for Macintosh with other mobile devices. The bigger barrier of entry is its price point, compared to other free apps like SyncMate. For a limited time, Missing Sync is offering a promo to upgrade your version to the next one.

As for this thing with paid upgrades … I guess people aren’t biting the fish. I don’t know about you, but I’m usually hesitant in upgrading software which I feel I really rightfully deserve a FREE UPGRADE.

If you’re one of the few kids who own a brand spankin’ new Nokia 5800 AND happen to own a Macintosh, you will probably notice that the Nokia iSync support site still doesn’t have a device driver for this phone. No worries, one will come soon. It always does. But in the meantime, you can check out tnkgrl’s self-developed iSync plugin which works just as fine!

Here’s a screenshot from my iSync profile. As you can see from the bottom, it recognizes the device!

SyncMate

Finally! A FREE and reliable sync conduit for Windows Mobile and Macintosh!

With many sync apps available in the market today, it’s hard to find a reliable and FREE tool which you can use to keep your PIM in sync. For someone like me, I don’t really care to sync iPhoto or iTunes with my Windows Mobile device. What’s of primary importance is my PIM - address book, calendar and the like. So say hello to SyncMate, a free Mac to Windows Mobile sync tool. This is something we’ve been waiting for! The free version comes with these features, including an epic SMS sending conduit:

* iCal synchronization Calendar synchronization has never been so easy. Days, dates, years – you know everything. Never miss a day or a date! Synchronize calendar with SyncMate. Now you can sync your Google Calendar with SyncMate, too!
* Сontacts synchronization With SyncMate we tried to help you keep your address books organized, both on your PDA and on your Mac. You can simply synchronize your phone or Pocket PC with your Mac and voila! Your both address books are complete. Synchronize your Google Contacts, too!
* SMS reader Read all your text messages not even touching your mobile device! With SyncMate the whole list of your SMS is in front of you.
* Device info plugin The most exact information about your Pocket PC right at your fingertips – all you ever wanted to know about your Pocket PC.

This post is of course written with all due respect to The Missing Sync, which is still one of the most kick ass sync tool in the market today. It’s just not .. free. So if the crisis is hitting you hard, SyncMate is for you!

Missing Sync for BlackBerry

The Missing Sync is missing a vital tool for its BlackBerry to Mac pairing - the ability to install applications onto the device via USB connection. The Missing Sync for BlackBerry conduit, currently at version 1.0.1 is an efficient tool for synchronizing your BlackBerry with iTunes and iPhoto as well as your other PIM applications.

It seems that developing a conduit to install BlackBerry applications isn’t as easy as it seems to be. What MarkSpace does is allow you to download and buy apps directly from its online store. Missing Sync for BlackBerry is priced at $39.95. Nonetheless, Missing Sync for BlackBerry is still a robust application that does the syncing best. We can’t wait for version 2.0.
