Nokia 2330 Classic allows Mail on Ovi

Last week I came from the launch of Ovi Mail in the South East Asia with debut in the Philippines. The concept is pretty simple — email with utmost simplicity from a S40 phone. This is definitely targeted to those who don’t have need for a high end S60 or enterprise phone, but still need to use email. Rather, be introduced to email. The Nokia 2330 was one of the units launched simultaneously to complement the rollout of Mail on Ovi.

The Nokia 2330 allows for Bluetooth connectivity and only uses GPRS to connect to the Internet, which is sufficient for Ovi’s Mail app. It comes with an FM radio and MP3 player as well.

Message Optimiser brings IM, Email to SMS

It was actually confusing at first but Forget Me Not Mobile has introduced a service for the developing African mobile market. The Message Optimiser application is a software that works with any phone that has SMS capability. It combines SMS, Email, and instant messaging into one application allowing low end phones the functionality of data.

The app is being introduced in Africa as a means to bridge the gap between mobile phones that can handle data vis a vis price. Thus, you can own an ultra cheap phone (SMS only) and have Message Optimiser add the funcitonality of email and instant messaging.
