OK folks, if you want to receive updates from the White House, they have created a new Twitter account, a spin off from Obama’s Twitter feed during the elections. Of course, it goes without saying that you can subscribe to their feed also through your mobile phone.

Which brings me to ask — do you actually turn on mobile updates for your Twitter feed, or is it really just one big mess? I used to turn it on — but realized it was such a hassle having to keep up with so many messages involuntarily as they were pushed to my phone.

A few days ago I was sent a product code that unlocks the full version of Audials Mobile, a S60 based application that seems questionable when it comes to music copyright laws. What it does is rather amazing: it scours the Internet Radio sites for songs and adds them to its database of over 70,000 songs. When you request for a song by typing in an artists’ name or searching for a particular genre, you’re given a listing of the most popular results. Audials allows you to download them. The disturbing thing is that the application is seamless and powerful, it’s scary that something like this exists. So I asked them if its completely legal and let me quote their answer:

Audials Mobile records the files from social web radios – this is legal, but only for private use. This means, you can use the files on your cell phone and copy them to your PC, MP3-player etc., but you are not allowed to share the files.

I did a quick Google search for Audials but I get no queries from actual blogs or other sites that have reviewed this service. Not sure how new this application for mobile is. Has anyone used this before?

Hey geeks, it’s the holidays and I’m quite sure that I can’t wrench you out of your computers to go call your relatives. In its stead, I’m recommending Skype, Gizmo Project or this neat service called Gizmo Call, a browser based VoIP service that allows you to call any phone straight from your browser.

Who can I call?
You can call any other GizmoCall, Gizmo5 users, 800 numbers, or SIP address for no charge. Here’s a guide to free calls you can make. To call a traditional phone number and take advantage of some of the low rates on the net you will need to buy $10 of call-out credit here.

Can GizmoCall receive calls?
You can receive calls using GizmoCall. Simply login and then any other GizmoCall user can call you at that username. As long as GizmoCall is open in any window or browser tab (even if in the background) you will be able to receive a call.

How can I make sure my speaker and microphone are working?
Click the “Test” icon below the numeric keypad and follow the instructions. Then use the microphone and speaker sliders to set the optimum settings.

Mobile phone screens are getting bigger and bigger. The challenge is to figure out how to integrate it into a brick. Just like these weird concepts that push mobile real estate to creative limits, Nokia’s latest patent allows some creative fusion between the touch screen and button keys, reminiscent of the Sony Ericsson P series.

The challenge is to create a widescreen mobile phone that goes over the top in terms of design. The sliding keyboard concept is so 2008, apparently and in ‘09 we might be seeing some new calisthenics for phone hardware. The patents are self explanatory.

Crafting massive online games for phones takes into account the engagement level of players. Right now, it would be a little iffy to create a full immersive experience for online games on phones because the fact that phones are put down in the house and picked up when one leaves makes engaging gaming … iffy. There are breakthroughs — checking the status of your World of Warcraft character on your phone is a little like showing off trading cards to friends.

Gameloft had mentioned that Chuck Norris was in a “weakened state” as he traveled around the world and got into an accident. So not like Chuck Norris, but fine, we’ll play along. But if Chuck Norris hears about this ….

Chuck Norris: Bring on the Pain is out NOW by Gameloft. It plays a side-scrolling hack and slash and shoot and gun Chuck Norris as he goes around the world cleaning up the bad guys and sending them into “Retirement +10.”

I first thought this game was fake — since no one is bad ass enough to play as Chuck Norris. But no, Gameloft is indeed releasing this epic title this month! And PROPS to Gameloft for successfully taking this cult into the next level. The dialogue is absolutely hilarious and the premise for Chuck Norris to be able to punch through buildings and burn down forests while defeating Communism is ….. well…. expected of Chuck Norris.

While I was at Nokia Connect, one of our readers at CommunicAsia 2008 (watch the video) gave us a heads up on the new version of Yahoo! oneSearch for mobile phones. The new version has integrated voice search functions so that means, instead of typing out your search query, which is already easy enough, you can just speak your query into your mobile’s mic.

At ComminicAsia ‘08, they launched two new dialect versions comes for India and for Singapore. Apart from this, oneSearch is now also compatible with the latest BlackBerry devices namely the Pearl, the 8800 series and the Curve.
