Nokia has been churning out a lot of really awesome devices lately, including the E72, the N97, the new “NokiaBook” announcement, and now we’re seeing the N900, which is based on the Linux OS. I guess this is their way of covering all bases with the Booklet 3G catering to the Windows Mobile netbook market. The N900 is a tablet oriented device with a pull down keyboard and patented Maemo 5 which is based on the concept of a scrolling dashboard.

We’re reaching a tipping point in the telco industry. Roaming charges for calls are being flanked by free calls when you’re around wireless hotspots via data. So when a phone company decides to ship its most advanced phone with Skype, it’s saying things.
Bluntly speaking, Nokia won’t be living up to their Web 2.0 ambition if they didn’t practice what they preach. Thus, we have the world’s most popular VoIP application bundled with the N97.

All eyes are in Barcelona for Nokia World, the only other manufacturer aside from Apple where heads turn to see what the Finnish phone giant unveils next. And today they unveil the world’s most advanced phone – the Nokia N97 which will retail at 550 Euros without any form of subsidy.
