Windows Mobile 6.5 puts on Armani

Built on Samsung’s OMNIA B7610, Windows Mobile 6.5 is now putting on Armani. There are three differences — the signature golden Armani finish, 8GB of memory built in, and a pivoting screen. The whole thing runs on OpenGL ES 2.0, which is a good catch. Essentially if you have $1,000 to plop into a new phone running on an underdog OS by today’s standards then fine, you might do well with getting this one. Otherwise, you can still settle for HTC or an ACER / Glofiish WinMo phone.

Samsung W880 with 3x Optical Zoom

Samsung’s Pixon line is pretty interesting. The main highlight, apart from the touch screen is the good quality camera. So today, Samsung has upped the bar with the new W880 and what makes this camera kick ass is its 3x optical zoom. The back of the phone protrudes the lens like a regular camera. It allows for HD recording, HSDPA data, WiFi, Bluetooth, microSD and mobile TV. A pretty hefty pack for a phone that highlights its camera, don’t you think?

Samsung Trill and Caliber on US Cellular

Samsung has associated itself with US Cellular by releasing two models — the Trill and Caliber. The Trill on the left is a music phone that hails from the Bang and Olufsen line. We’re not sure if it also runs a S60 based platform in the same way that its predecessor did, but we won’t be surprised if we start seeing Samsung run Nokia’s OVI apps.
The second phone is the Caliber, a touch screen phone with a 3.0MP camera for photos and video. No pricing available yet.

Samsung introduces S9110 Watch Phone

What’s with the watch phones? First, LG introduced their version of the watch phone that used voice activated commands and Bluetooth to communicate with others via a headset.
Today the Samsung S9110 is really more of a statement that we’ll be seeing more of these watches that double as phones in the future. Seems like a pretty standard package to communicate — voice commands are in, but I’m not quite sure if this has a Bluetooth headset package. Well, for USD 650 if you have money to burn you can grab this if you’re in the bad habit of leaving your …read more
Samsung OMNIA Pro on WinMo

The Samsung OMNIA Pro is a side slider QWERTY device that runs on Windows Mobile 6.1. It is basically an enterprise-targeted device that goes head to head with the HTC Touch Pro 2 because of its really big AMOLED screen.
truth be told, I’m not too keen anymore with enterprise phones using Windows Mobile. If not for the corporate lock outs (I guess buying in bulk through cheap biddings really pay off), I’d prefer having my entire team running on Blackberries because at the very least, sending SMS would be a breeze.
That, or we wait till Windows Mobile 7.0.

This may be considered as one of Samsung’s entrry level phones with basic features but the fact is, if you’re an outdoor lover, the B2100 is water resistant up to one meter for 30 minutes, dust proof, shock proof and can claim to be elegant even when placed in front of the meeting desk. The B2100 comes with a 1.3MP camera, Mp3 player wth loud speakers and 6MB of internal memory + memory expansion.

Samsung OMNIA HD Review

Happy weekend! Samsung sent over their new OMNIA HD for testing purposes. If I were to cut this review into one sentence, I’d be obliged to say that the OMNIA HD is essentially a Nokia 5800 XpressMusic that’s running on a nice big 3.7 inch AMOLED screen. Put together S60’s touch screen UI and Samsung’s design elements and you got yourself an OMNIA HD.
Here’s my treat for the full review of the OMNIA HD.

Samsung Propel Pro Review

A rather eccentric review in the sense that he’s got a cowboy thing going. The Samsung Propel Pro is a non-touch screen Windows Mobile phone. The Propel has a good thing going for it with a really easy to use keypad (it’s fat!). The battery life is also good enough with 2 days of intensive use.
The Propel Pro also comes with WiFi and Windows Mobile 6.1 Standard. It doesn’t have a D-Pad, but a joystick to move up, down, left and right. All in all the Propel Pro is a pretty good WinMo phone because of the QWERTY …read more

Samsung OMNIA HD Impressions

I got to hold the Samsung OMNIA HD for a while — it was running on a prototype OS so I really couldn’t do much with it. No worries.
The Samsung OMNIA HD runs on Nokia’s famed Symbian operating system, not Windows Mobile 6.1. Perhaps the most WOW-ing thing with this device is its very crisp OLED screen. The phone uses its iconic Samsung widget interface to decorate the front of the device. Once you get apps running, you’ll start to notice the familiar S60 menu.
All in all this looks like it’s going to be a really good follow up to …read more
