Sprint, together with Nextel will be expanding its WiMax service to 17 new cities by the end of 2009. The move to 4G mobilizing is apparently brought about by a loss in consumers for their other services to their consumers. And this is happening despite positive consumer support feedback.
Let’s see what’s happening here. Spirint aims to gain new customers by running a new service that requires the procurement of new WiMax compatible hardware. Given that the western economic recession is still at its peak, I’m not sure people would be willing to shell out additional money just to get WiMax into their devices, when in fact, 3G may really just suffice. How fast do we want these services anyway?

Dear Palm Pre,
In a few days we will finally get to experience a mix of nostalgia and excitement over what you have in store. It’s been TOO LONG, Palm Pre. We thought you’d come out in a much larger form, calling yourself the Foleo, but apparently after months of R&D, you got scrapped for a smartphone. It’s been too long, Palm Pre. Everyone else took after your simplicity (well except Windows Mobile), so we’re hoping to see you set a great standard for everyone else.

The Sanyo (Kyocera in other regions) S1 is frugal in specs. It doesn’t mean to compete with the world leaders in the mobile phone industry, and in its own right has a small – very small – piece of the pie. You can tell by the look of the product features page where “features” include such things as keypad lock – something that’s assumed to be in most mobile phones. Highlights of the Sanyo S1 include Bluetooth, Wireless Backup courtesy of Sprint, and a WAP 2.0 browser. Am I boring you yet? Oh sorry.

Well, I’m featuring the S1 for the sake of being featured as Sanyo does have some market dominance in certain parts of the world. Like it? Great!

So okay we’ve had enough of the iPhone 3G for once. With AT&T dealing with wonky iPhone 3G activations, Sprint is doing something on the more conservative — but desirable side and releasing the Palm Treo 800w at $249.00 (after rebates and qualifying two year service & data plan).
Here’s the complete data sheet for the Palm Treo 800w package for Sprint.
