If you keep up with cell phone news, you’ve probably read a lot of articles talking about the new Motorola DROID which is set to become available on November 6, 2009. It’s just days away but people are already talking about how cool it is so I’m pretty intrigued.

This is the first smartphone to be powered by Android 2.0 and is supposed to be stronger and faster than the competition. The device promises “high-speed Web browsing, voice-activated search, customizable large screen, access to thousands of Android applications and hundreds of widgets.”

Apparently, the shell is pretty solid while still being one of the thinnest full-QWERTY slider phones around so I’m sure a lot of people are going to be putting this on their holiday wishlists!

I read over some of the product details on the Verizon website and the best features include the following:

Connecting to the internet at 3G speeds with access to a multi-window HTML browser.

Widescreen visibility on a 3.7” high-resolution screen which makes viewing email, Google Maps, videos and websites a lot easier!

You can toggle between up to six applications at the same time!

Super quick Google searches!

The 5 megapixel camera lets you take digital camera-quality snapshots with autofocus, image stabilization and dual-LED flash. The DVD-quality video capture also comes in handy as does the 16 GB memory card!

The DROID is the first device to feature Google Maps Navigation which provides turn-by-turn voice guidance for FREE!!!! That alone is worth checking this phone out. How awesome is that? You can even see live traffic, street views and satellite images along your route.

The DROID by Motorola will be available in the United States exclusively at Verizon Wireless Communications Stores and online on Friday, November 6, 2009 for $199.99 with a new two-year customer agreement after a $100 mail-in rebate.

For additional information on Verizon Wireless products and services, visit a Verizon Wireless Communications Store, call 1-800-2 JOIN IN or go to www.verizonwireless.com.

They’re giving away a free Samsung Sway with a two year plan. The Samsung Sway is a pretty basic unit with a built in camera, Bluetooth connectivity and MP3 player. Check it out now!

The HTC Imagio runs on the run off the mill Qualcomm processor, VCAST mobile TV, GPS, WiFi, Bluetooth … the works. These are things you’d expect. What you don’t expect is that HTC really built the Touch FLO even further into the OS. I dunno, why do they still need to use WinMo when so many things are built over it.

Verizon is set to launch its new ‘Razzle’ on October 6. Though it is pretty much a low end unit, the Razzle appeals because of its QWERTY keypad that can twist out to unveil a nice speaker system. Not sure on the actual practicality of this — moving parts really suck ass but it nonetheless makes a great conversation piece. The Razzle is based on the 8030 without Verizon’s branding. The phone comes with GPS and a 1.3MP camera. This will be available on plan at USD $69.00.

Signing up is easy, as all you need to do is use your existing Photobucket account and link to your Verizon phone line:

To utilize the application, Verizon Wireless subscribers sign up for a Photobucket account – which can be created for free at http://photobucket.com – and enter their log-in information to link their Verizon Wireless account to their Photobucket online photo album. Once the accounts are connected, the application instantly uploads photos already saved on the phone to the user’s Photobucket account. The Photobucket Mobile Uploader then automatically sends any future photos directly to the same Photobucket account. [release]

The service will be available for 13 handsets on the Verizon network, and we’re assuming that these are the faster 3G / HSDPA phones. The service allows for unlimited photo uploading for only $2.99 a month.

Available in black or pink (weird, because the phone is two tone black and pink!) the LG Venus is all elegance. The phone comes with dual screens, a 2MP camera for photos and video, microSD expansion and Bluetooth. If you’re looking for something rather different from the usual Sony Ericssons and Nokias, the LG Venus is a great dazzling option.
More photos after the jump.
