webOS allows iTunes sync

The Palm Pre is looking good in time for its June 6 launch. Unveiled, the Pre’s drive mode allows for the sncing of DRM free music to iTunes which means you CAN start using the Pre as an iPod. No word about syncing other items like Audiobooks, but we’re sure Apple won’t be allowing DRM enabled music from their iTunes store.

Mojo SDK for Palm Pre Announced

The Palm Pre runs on webOS and Palm has announced the availability of the Mojo SDK allowing developers to write their window-based apps with an iPhone twist pretty soon. Here are some of the features of the SDK:
* Build applications with gesture-based navigation, transitions, and scrolling
* Use the webOS notification system to alert users without interrupting them
* Leverage the local storage capabilities of HTML5 so that data is available even when users are offline

Palm Pre to include Palm OS Emulator

Palm’s new webOS will include an emulator that allows users to run legacy applications from the Palm OS. Looks like great stuff coming for the Pre and the new operating system. The Classic operating system looks pretty neat, but it also takes advantage of the new processors to run apps faster on the Classic OS emulator.

It’s Official: Palm OS is Dead

Pictured above is the Palm Centro. It was supposedly the Palm OS’ last stand molded to fit the hands of fresh grads who wanted a powerful device that was hip as well as affordable. But Palm had a streak of bad luck half caused by user perception and the “Palm is dead” syndrome. Palm is thus convincing everyone to adopt the new webOS which debuts with the Palm Pre.
