thoughts on SMS

I’m sooo going to exceed in my free SMS limit this month. I’ve grown accustomed to sending text messages via my laptop. So I dread to receive my phone bill this month.

I’m starting to treat it like e-mail – which is something Blackberry users can enjoy while still maintaining a static phone bill. Back here we have customized carrier plans that cater to segmented markets – those who call a lot and those who send SMS more than they call. I think we even have plans for EDGE / GPRS maximization with extra charges for calls and text.

In any case, I’m thinking of migrating to a Blackberry.

I use my computer but switched to using the skype plugin for Outlook, SMS cost half of what they do with my carrier (Vodafone) and it’s so easy beacuse I can just click on a contact in outlook and select “Send SMS”. It opens up an SMS chat window in skype to that number straight away.

It’s worth a look in anyway.
