Blades of Fury ROCKS the iPhone

We’ve seen what the new iPod touch can do and this is the start of something big. We’re looking at pretty neat 3D graphics with a plethora of weapons, special moves and characters to choose from. There’s a free version out that allows limited access and a full version that unlocks all the items.

Heroes III for iPhone brings JUSTICE!

Heroes III (not to be confused with Heroes of Might and Magic III) for the iPhone is similar to the already famous Mafia Wars series, except that this one is well … part III of the Heroes miniMMO for the iPhone / iPod touch. After creating an account, you will be tasked to perform acts of heroism around the virtual world populated by other players. You can also opt to upgrade your skills, form alliances and battle other players online.
It’s pretty much the tried and tested mobile MMO formula with a hero’s cape clad over it.

FML: In All its App Store Glory

You may not have noticed, but searching for F My Life or “FML” on the iTunes App Store yields more than one — heck, more than three results.

All are free, but each app provides varied ways of viewing everyone’s favorite “F” website (and some provide variations of advertising models too) but really my favorite among the bunch is the one by “kreactive technologies” due to the way it allows your to customize your FML searches by top categories or by timeline.

Exploding iPhones — yet iPhones still HOT!

In Europe, the iPhones are exploding. And we don’t know why. Apple still has yet to determine if this is an isolated case within Europe or something to do with the iPhone itself. Reports have been sent in of actual screen cracking, with some of the shards proving fairly deadly if held close to the face of victims.
“We want to know if this is an isolated incident as they claim, or a real problem involving the iPhone – in which case, what are they planning by way of compensation and to prevent it happening again?” said a spokesman.

iPhone 3Gs hacks easy — people don’t care

In a recent article by WIRED, it was demonstrated that hacking an iPhone 3Gs is just as easy as doing it with any predecessor that did not have any form of encryption. Despite the added security level initiated by Apple for enterprise use, the 3Gs is as vulnerable as an open safe. But the crux of the matter is that people don’t seem to care.

This makes me wonder much about the level of enthusiasm people have over security over their gadgets. My informal survey says that people are more concerned with physical safety measures rather than the ones found in …read more

iPhone: Bluetooth kills WiFi

Apparently there’s a reason why your iPhone’s WiFi connection may be lagging out.
It seems that both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi share the same antenna, so when Bluetooth was made active in the 3.0 software, conflicts arose.
On the Toy Kite Software site, Doug was a bit more specific. The iPhone 3.0 software brought with it a service discovery process that switches between looking for another device on Wi-Fi and Bluetooth using the single antenna.[source]
I don’t know guys. As the iPhone gets all these upgrades it seems that we’re encountering problems that mobile phone manufacturers would consider mortal sins of the …read more

iPhone 3Gs announced: “S” for “Speed”

OK, as expected, Apple unveiled their new iPhone upgrade, the 3Gs which is essentially the same iPhone with a few new surprises. None of these are actually groundbreaking when taken apart, but they still make for a welcome upgrade. 4x speed increase for most apps, autofocus 3MP camera, 30 fps video recording, support for Nike+ running (the iPod touch had this one so this upgrade is welcome, but still late for the iPhone). There are also voice activated commands for launching apps and controlling your music. There’s also a data speed bump up to 7.12MBPS.
Price? Well $199 for 16GB. $299 …read more
