Kyocera S1000: No features whatsoever

Okay, yeah. Well Kyocera isn’t really known for their most imaginative designs. Their wireless products are at least 3 years behind in terms of design. I hope it’s not the curmudgeon in me but you should agree that Kyocera needs to really reinvent itself to be competitive.

So on to the S1000 features. Well, there really isn’t anything worth mentioning about this phone. This is a CDMA phone that doesn’t have a camera nor have MP3 playback features. At the very least it’s got an alarm and vibration alert. The cheapest phone to date I’ve seen costs roughly $20.00 and if Kyocera can’t sell at a lower price point, well either they got really misinformed customers or God is on their side.

Kyocera Lingo M1000

Kyocera is stepping up with their line of enterprise phones. The Lingo M1000 is a modest looking device that hails from Nokia Communicator inspiration. The smartphone comes with the following features:

Kyocera K323

Now, it comes with Bluetooth! Kyocera’s modest phone lineup consist of clamshells with integrated VGA cameras, with one particular model sporting Bluetooth connectivity. The K323 comes with an option for 900 mAh or 1800 mAh lithium ion batteries and voice recording capabilities.

The main difference between the K323 and the other units is that this particular cellphone sports Bluetooth.

Kyocera Cyclops

Kyocera has been an underdog in the mobile phone industry since forever. I’ve browsed through their catalogue of phones and among all the items they have for sale, it seems like the Kyocera Cyclops is the closest thing they have to a hot pick. Closest. Features wise, there really isn’t any room for innovation as the 1.3MP camera and stylish clamshell design are dead giveaways of following the leader.

Of the pluses, the small external screen for viewing the time is pretty vivid and it comes with an AOL instant messenger service.

Kyocera K352

Very similar in appearance to the HTC Tornado, the Kyocera K352 highlights its music playing capabilities with 256MB of memory on-board.

The K352 is only available in the CDMA network and will be available in the 3rd quarter of 2006.

There is not much to be impressed with the phone as a whole – there is no indication of expandable memory leaving 256MB to be competent, but not exactly impressive with today’s line of music phones. The camera itself leaves much to be desired for because it can only do a maximum of 640×480 (VGA) in resolution. But then, that might be a good thing considering that the phone won’t have expansion capabilities, and thus picture sizes will be much smaller.
