Missing Sync 1.0.2 released

For us unfortunate Mac users who have to rely on third party apps to do certain things for us, you may have already noticed that Missing Sync for BlackBerry was released to accomodate a few new features. Unfortunately, these “new features” still don’t include the updates we had hoped Mark / Space would inculcate into the software … such as Applcation Installs.

There’s a new Folder Dync plugin though. It allows you to synchronize full folders from your Mac to your phone. I wonder if you can install apps this way. Urgh.

The After Mac

Hi folks! I’m pleased to announce another technology blog addition to the b5media blog stable. The After Mac is, well, our little haven for Mac and Apple product users. I will be co-writing this blog with a good friend and Mac evangelist Adel Gabot.

The After Mac takes a look at life after biting the Apple. So yes, we praise and frustrate at the same time. But at the end of the day, you gotta admit that a Mac still looks lovely.

Implications-wise, this means that I’m going to be doing all Mac portable related posts to The After Mac and not here at Cellphone9. I will still be blogging regularly here of course!

But then … I’m waiting for the day when an Apple mobile phone comes out. And that, my friends, is a different story!

SMS and Bluetooth convenience

A lot of us have taken for granted certain features that our phones have with our computers. Bluetooth phones especially.

I’m not sure how great your carrier signal is from where you lodge but unless you live right beside a cellular site (isn’t that cancerous?) there may be small nooks and crannies at your place that don’t have a phone signal.

And guess what? Those small nooks and crannies just happen to be your work space. I’m sure it’s happened that you’re in the middle of work expecting an important call or SMS. Then you realize your mobile phone has been out of signal for the past ten minutes.

Take advantage of your Bluetooth phone and pair it with your Bluetooth computer. You can keep it in a place where the signal is strong (like your roof) and keep your computer inside. Actually, it just looks really cool to do.

For Mac users this is every easy to do. All you need to do is fire up your Address Book and click on the little Bluetooth icon (which a lot of peopel actually forget about). You’re connected in a second.

Windows users, fear not! There’s also a similar application available for free for genuine Microsoft Windows owners. You can download it here.
