In between a PDA and a laptop, the Samsung Mondi provides the computing prowess of a laptop at the palm of your hand. Nothing we haven’t seen before, but what makes this device interesting is that it runs on a WiMax network ensuring seamless connectivity to the Internet within the WiMax blanket.
The Mondi runs on Windows Mobile 6.1 and has a full thumb board and touch screen. Other perks include GPS, 3.0 MP camera and recording capabilities. So far, no price has been set for this device. Full specs include:

Nokia E75 has a slide out QWERTY
April 1, 2009 by Jayvee Fernandez

Coming out this second quarter of 2009, the Nokia E75 is the latest enterprise-class (Star Trek!) mobile phone to succeed the E63, E66 and E71. The new E75 is basically an E66 with a sliding keyboard behind it. Specs wise, it pretty much doesn’t add new features that have already been revolutionized by the E71 from last year. The only thing that’s really new is the integration of the Nokia Messaging service, allowing you access to mobile email through Nokia’s side of the fence.
Nokia N97 Hands On: Powerhouse Touch Screen

I was able to get my hands on the latest Nokia N97 — which the Finnish giant claims as their most advanced phone. True enough, this borrows heavily from the success of the 5800 XpressMusic touch screen and adds the versatility of a full QWERTY keyboard.
Truly, Nokia has brought home a fantastic device adding support for more widgets on the home screen, a decent camera, WiFi and a very light frame.
LG Renoir KC910: Surprisingly Impressive

I was surprised with the outcome of LG’s latest touch screen phone, KC910 Renoir.
The front of the phone resembles pretty much what every other iPhone wannabee looks like – clean, prominent screen with three buttons; while the back resembles a digital camera – 8MP excuse me. What makes this phone truly shine are two things: WiFi connectivity and a very decent camera. The phone is “ruled” by the haptic touch which gave the iPhone its iconic user interface. Although it is not at par with Apple’s, LG’s KC910 is still a worth look into.
The Renoir comes with the following specs:

Samsung OMNIA HD Impressions

I got to hold the Samsung OMNIA HD for a while — it was running on a prototype OS so I really couldn’t do much with it. No worries.
The Samsung OMNIA HD runs on Nokia’s famed Symbian operating system, not Windows Mobile 6.1. Perhaps the most WOW-ing thing with this device is its very crisp OLED screen. The phone uses its iconic Samsung widget interface to decorate the front of the device. Once you get apps running, you’ll start to notice the familiar S60 menu.
All in all this looks like it’s going to be a really good follow up to …read more
Samsung S3800 UltraTOUCH Hands On

Early this month, Samsung released a YouTube video campaign for their UltraTOUCH phone.
Now that I got to hold one for a few hours, I must say that the UltraTOUCH hype doesn’t live up to the full capacity of the phone. Don’t get me wrong here — if someone asked me buying advice, I’d gladly say that the UltraTOUCH is still a decent phone to own. The lack of the directional pad and the addition of the touch screen are fine points to consider when choosing this phone. In short, it works well. There’s no revolutionary technology behind this phone but …read more
LG Banter *snicker* now with Alltel

There’s been Internet … banter about the LG Banter — it resembles the Rumor, which was unveiled in CES 2009. Alltel announced today that it will be carrying the LG Banter (heck, the name really gets to me). Nothing really superb about this phone apart from the mid-range QWERTY feature.

Other specs include a 1.3MP camera, MP3 player, Bluetooth, and microSD expansion.
Oh guess what, there’s a promo:
Alltel Wireless is offering the LG Banter for $19.99 after a $50 mail-in-rebate at Alltel retail stores and online at shopalltel.com. This discounted price is available to new and existing eligible customers …read more
iPhone 3.0: Channeling Handspring

When Apple announced iPhone 3.0 and its ability to integrate almost any accessory into the dock (they showed off a mock photo of a digital blood pressure accessory), I immediately remembered the days of the Handspring Visor and the springboard modules that, though unsuccessful, paved the way for portable gadget features we have today — phones, cameras, the Internet, MP3 players — all in one Personal Digital Assistant. Handspring was a breakaway faction from Palm back in the day. They concentrated in developing springboard accessories for their line of Visor PDA’s running the Palm OS. I remember having the 56kbps …read more

Interesting. Nokia sent over some PR material listing the 16 reasons why the Nokia E71 is a winner. Well, I won’t post all 16 but here are some notable mentions:
Recently voted by a panel of judges for the 2009 Mobile Innovation Global Awards held in Barcelona, Spain as one of the GSMA’s best handsets of 2009.
Device lock, device and memory card encryption, remote device management ensures your precious data doesn’t fall into the wrong hands even if your phone does.
Setting up webmail and corporate email only takes 5 clicks with the Nokia email wizard.

Samsung Xplorer 1 submersible Up To 1 Meter
March 19, 2009 by Jayvee Fernandez

Samsung recently announced the Xplorer 1, which continues the line of outdoor friendly phones. The Xplorer 1 comes with an outdoor friendly finish allowing it to withstand bumps, scratches, scrapes and yes — even water for up to one meter. The Xplorer 1 can withstand the underwater depths for up to 30 minutes.
Specs wise, the Xplorer 1 comes with a 1.3 MP camera, EDGE connectivity, noise cancellation technology, loud speakers and microSD expansion. Nothing really high tech with this baby, but the submersible feature does make this remarkable.
