In between a PDA and a laptop, the Samsung Mondi provides the computing prowess of a laptop at the palm of your hand. Nothing we haven’t seen before, but what makes this device interesting is that it runs on a WiMax network ensuring seamless connectivity to the Internet within the WiMax blanket.

The Mondi runs on Windows Mobile 6.1 and has a full thumb board and touch screen. Other perks include GPS, 3.0 MP camera and recording capabilities. So far, no price has been set for this device. Full specs include:

I was able to get my hands on the latest Nokia N97 — which the Finnish giant claims as their most advanced phone. True enough, this borrows heavily from the success of the 5800 XpressMusic touch screen and adds the versatility of a full QWERTY keyboard.

Truly, Nokia has brought home a fantastic device adding support for more widgets on the home screen, a decent camera, WiFi and a very light frame.

The front of the phone resembles pretty much what every other iPhone wannabee looks like – clean, prominent screen with three buttons; while the back resembles a digital camera – 8MP excuse me. What makes this phone truly shine are two things: WiFi connectivity and a very decent camera. The phone is “ruled” by the haptic touch which gave the iPhone its iconic user interface. Although it is not at par with Apple’s, LG’s KC910 is still a worth look into.

I got to hold the Samsung OMNIA HD for a while — it was running on a prototype OS so I really couldn’t do much with it. No worries.

The Samsung OMNIA HD runs on Nokia’s famed Symbian operating system, not Windows Mobile 6.1. Perhaps the most WOW-ing thing with this device is its very crisp OLED screen. The phone uses its iconic Samsung widget interface to decorate the front of the device. Once you get apps running, you’ll start to notice the familiar S60 menu.

All in all this looks like it’s going to be a really good follow up to the “affluent” OMNIA line primarily because of the choice of operating system and bright screen.

Now that I got to hold one for a few hours, I must say that the UltraTOUCH hype doesn’t live up to the full capacity of the phone. Don’t get me wrong here — if someone asked me buying advice, I’d gladly say that the UltraTOUCH is still a decent phone to own. The lack of the directional pad and the addition of the touch screen are fine points to consider when choosing this phone. In short, it works well. There’s no revolutionary technology behind this phone but if you’re looking for something small and thin with a touch screen that works, then this is a good option.

Handspring’s strategy ultimately failed because sooner or later a lot of companies incorporated the very same features into their phones — turning hardware into software. So you didn’t need an external MP3 player anymore. All you needed was some good software that could incorporate music into ringtones.

Will Apple’s entry into this same business fail? My short answer: No.

Whereas Handspring was struggling for market share to begin with, the market is already something the Apple iPhone has. And not only that — it’s been more than 6 years since the Handspring was innovated and these six years was the time it took for the market to determine what type of features should be staple in a mobile device. And people HAVE said it through the products that we see today: MP3 player, camera, phone, Internet, GPS.

Apple’s iPhone 3.0 developer foray allows for the creation of accessories that are more niche in application based on individual’s professions.

The Nokia E71 is a true beauty – I won’t hesitate to say that it is one of Nokia’s best phones ever made. Sad though that they didn’t include BlackBerry support for this one.

Specs wise, the Xplorer 1 comes with a 1.3 MP camera, EDGE connectivity, noise cancellation technology, loud speakers and microSD expansion. Nothing really high tech with this baby, but the submersible feature does make this remarkable.
