I used to be a heavy Pocket PC / Windows Mobile user till I succumbed to the popular S60 (I had a ton of Nokia phones between 2006-2009) and the iPod touch user interface. But back in the day, friends who used Windows Mobile used to brag about how they could do almost anything with their devices — and Palm users couldn’t say much. The latter would argue that Palm is simpler — and the other team would argue that Windows Mobile was more complex. So if it was a battle they wanted, it could never be resolved.
But times have changed, and Windows Mobile has been left behind for good reason – it isn’t as easy to use anymore. The amazing stuff you could once do exclusively for Windows Mobile can now be easily replicated by other mobile operating systems. So when it all came to having all things constant, Windows Mobile lost because it wasn’t eye candy enough and easy to use.
But thank God it’s here — Windows Mobile 6.5 is coming soon and finally, it’s something the regular joe who was wowed by the iPhone can relate with.
