Yubz Retro Handsfree

Several months ago, ThinkGeek made a retro handset available for purchase in their online store. Since I’m from the Philippines, delivery costs would soar if I had one ordered and shipped. I was able to find a local version of the retro “hands free” branded here as Yubz.
The handset is first of all iconic and brings back the nostalgia of the pay phone days (back then, our pay phones were colored red). The sound quality is very good as I was able to take calls and listen to music and video on my BlackBerry. The phone makes use of the widely compatible 2.5mm jack with additional support for adapters for a wide variety of units. One thing to note is that this accessory isn’t supposed to be practical – it is meant to be used as a fashion statement, conversation piece and head turner – I have to make that clear. Not that it doesn’t perform well – it does! It is really a step back into portability as you would have to find clothing to hang this receiver on. Yubz comes in 9 different colors with volume controls and an answer button located on the handle.
If you’re from the Philippines, Yubz is now available at the Discovery Shop, in Rustan’s Dept Store. ThinkGeek also has a wireless Bluetooth version in their online store.
