Adam Jones Scuffles With ‘Bodyguard’

Dallas Cowboys defensive back Adam Jones got into a fight with a team-issued babysitter/bodyguard earlier this morning. CBS-11 in Dallas/Ft. Worth reported that the scuffle occurred at a Dallas hotel that was hosting a party after the local premiere of the new Max Payne movie. Hotel security had to break up the fight and a police officer spoke with Adam outside the hotel, but no charges were filed and no report was generated. So, I guess it’s really a non-story. I just found it interesting that:

  • the Cowboys have an off-duty police officer (or two or three or four) watching over Adam as if he were a baby, and…
  • that Adam would jeopardize his final chance to play in the National Football League with this sort of irresponsible public display.

A “league source” says Adam had been drinking and (obviously) fighting and had marks on his face at practice today. Naturally, the Cowboys said they have no information about the incident and thus, no comment.

With NFL commissioner Roger Goodell’s absolute zero tolerance policy hanging over Adam’s head, my first thought was that he couldn’t be that big of a knucklehead. But maybe he can be. Yes, it appears he can be. At any rate, between “Pacman” and the always enigmatic Terrell Owens, the Cowboys will eventually implode. And the N.Y. Giants and Washington Redskins will battle for supremacy in the NFC East.
