Adam Jones Won’t Face Team Discipline

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones actually held a press conference today to talk about employee Adam Jones‘ fracas with his babysitter/bodyguard yesterday. The Cowboys aren’t treating it as any big deal and Adam won’t be disciplined by the team. But NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell wasn’t very happy about it and I can’t say that I blame him:

“I’m disappointed that we’re even discussing this at this point in time. But we’ll have to wait for the facts ….. It’s clear there was some type of an incident. We want to understand all the facts and once we do understand the facts then we can make a judgment from that point. But at this point right now it’s just making sure we understand exactly what did happen.”

To say that “Pacman” is on a short leash with the Commissioner would be quite an understatement. The two were supposed to have had an agreement. If this incident comes down to any kind of punishment, I think Adam will simply be banned from the league for good. But, I know why the Cowboys went through the trouble of organizing the presser today. They wanted to appear to be as open and honest about the situation as possible. And they wanted to tone down the severity of it before the league decides it’s something rather than nothing. Maybe it worked.

Personally, I don’t think it’s worth any kind of punishment, but given the severity of the consequences, I’m shocked that Adam would allow it to get this far in the first place. Apparently, his chaotic life can’t be completely quelled. If you really want to waste half an hour of your life listening to Jerry Jones talk about this, here’s the link.
