Brett Favre Can’t Stand the Packers?

I’m really not sure what to make of this quote, but I guess I’ll milk the “Brett Favre Unretirement Watch” for all it’s worth with this latest tidbit. According to the N.Y. Daily News, Brett not only wants to play football again, he wants to do so in a manner that will allow him to exact revenge on his former team, the Green Bay Packers. I could see that.

According to an unnamed source, Brett wants back into the NFC North:
“Favre can’t stand Green Bay. He wants to play Green Bay and say, ‘I told you so.’ His bitterness is creating this. I think he’s calling Minnesota. I think Minnesota is talking about this as we speak. You haven’t heard the end of Favre. No way. He is bionic. As long as somebody will let him in, he will play.”
Of course, the problem here is we don’t know who the unnamed source is that “informed” the Daily News. But I can’t imagine this is too far from the truth. Brett’s career in Green Bay didn’t exactly end on a high note. He was kind of pushed out of town even though it was his indecisiveness that caused the problem in the first place. So he’s not an innocent victim. Still, I can imagine he would like to return to the game, beat Green Bay twice in one season and win a Super Bowl. Then, and only then, would he truly keep his word on retirement. I think. I don’t have any unnamed sources to back me up on that.
