The Buffalo Bills will open a five-year series of games in Toronto tonight against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The game will be the first of an eight-game series (five regular season and three preseason), which runs through 2012, and will make the Bills the NFL’s first team to play regular-season games annually outside the United States. My initial impression was that these were the first steps in moving the team to Toronto, but after hearing from NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, these games make the team’s future more secure with the additional revenue being generated:
“The Buffalo Bills are doing terrific. I think their step to Toronto has helped strengthen that. And I see the Buffalo Bills being in western New York for a long time.”
For those who can’t watch tonight’s game live at 7:30 p.m. ET, you can catch the “re-air” on Saturday, August 16 at 12 a.m. ET.
