Chad Johnson is a strange guy. Of course, we already knew that. But he is now officially a little weirder. He legally changed his last name to “Ocho Cinco”. During a recent ESPN interview, he forewarned those who care that a major surprise was forthcoming:
“A lot of people look at Chad Johnson and say he’s crazy and he does a lot of stuff, but I don’t think people really understand how smart I really am. So come September 7, I believe when we play the Baltimore Ravens, I think that’s the game, there’s a surprise for everybody — for everybody. When I say something, it is what it is, just enjoy it. Because it’s going to last 16 weeks, plus some more.”
I don’t think anyone has ever accused Chad of being dumb (even though he doesn’t know what team he’s playing on opening weekend). I mean, I don’t find him to be all that bright but I more-or-less think of him as an obnoxious, attention-craving, glory hog. He’s a very good receiver. He’s just really annoying. So when he plays this season with “Ocho Cinco” on the back of his jersey, we’ll all be very impressed and entertained. Yawn.
