Donovan McNabb Was Serious

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb said he didn’t realize an NFL game could end in a tie. This after the Eagles and Cincinnati Bengals fought through a scoreless overtime period to arrive at a 13-13 stalemate. I realize there hasn’t been a tie in an NFL game since 2002, but I was stunned to hear Donovan admit that. I know he jokes a lot, so my initial reaction was that he was kidding. But he wasn’t. I thought the tie rule was fairly common knowledge for even a casual observer of the game, let alone a starting quarterback and (still) one of the “faces” of the NFL. I’m a Donovan McNabb fan — always have been and always will be. And I don’t think it’s the end of the world or anything. But this one left me scratching my head in disbelief. I think he should just plead temporary insanity.
