I think a lot of people were wondering if Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning’s offseason knee surgery was partly to blame for the team’s inauspicious start. Of course it was. After all, he missed training camp and the entire preseason. How together could this offense be? Well, they were unified today in a 31-3 romp over the Baltimore Ravens. Afterward, Peyton said:

“It’s about being consistent, but today’s game was a little more like what we expect around here.”

A lot more like it! What I don’t think too many people know is that Peyton actually had two surgeries on his bum knee. An infection arose after the first surgery, prompting a second operation and a whopping 80 stitches. But he appears to be healthy again. Today he threw for 271 yards and three touchdowns as the Colts pummeled the NFL’s top-rated defense. Considering Peyton was probably much less than 100% when the Colts pulled out unlikely late wins against Minnesota and Houston recently, the team has to be feeling pretty good about themselves right now at 3-2, but still two games behind division leading Tennessee who was on a bye this week.
