i’m a former rugby player. i’m a woman, but women’s and men’s rugby have exactly the same rules. it’s one of the few sports in which that’s true. the women’s game tends to be a bit faster, more based on speed and technique because we’re a but physically smaller. but trust me. i’ve laid out my fair share of folks, and been on the bottom of plenty of piles.
in rugby, we get penalized for hitting too high. a high hit is more likely to cause a head or neck injury. it’s also much less effective.
in rugby, we see fewer serious injuries than in football. one theory is that we’re not wearing pads, which means that when we hit, we feel it, so the hits are somewhat moderated.
and, there is a policy in USA rugby that someone who appears to be concussed:
“A mild/ first degree concussion causes the athlete to be confused dazed and experience slight amnesia. Asking the athlete questions such as time of day and how he/she got to the field can help detect the injury. Hesitation in answering is a good indication of concussion. If a player experiences unconsciousness for a few seconds or several minutes the athlete has a moderate/second degree concussion. A severe/third degree concussion means any lapse of consciousness for more than five minutes. The degree of concussion is determined by the force of impact.”
is not allowed to return to play for three weeks. which sucks when it’s you, or it’s one of your best players who’s out for a critical game. but it’s the rule.
i’m wondering why the NFL doesn’t treat their players with the same respect.
i’m an avid football fan. in fact, i’m a little crabby today because Baltimore has a bye. and i love to watch a good hard hit. but, the NFL needs to be more aggressive in preventing and treating brain injuries. and they need to start to do something to take care of the folks who have already been disabled by their cavalier policies.

Favre has NEVER won against the Steelers. Duh…get your facts straight dumbass.
On September 27, 1992, Brett was 14-of-19 passing for 210 yards and two touchdowns as the Packers beat the Steelers 17-3. He also beat the Steelers on December 24, 1995. That score was 24-19 Packers and Brett was 23-of-32 passing for 301 yards and two touchdowns. Now don’t you feel really stupid?
i thank that this is a very good thing to do
Larry “Cupcake” Johnson, Larry “The Lush”, “Lazy” Larry are among the names he is known by in Kansas City. Larry Johnson continues to play a victim role. He seems surprised when after throwing stones they comeback to hit him in the face as ARROWHEADS! He’s famous for sitting alone in bars and getting drunk. The only running he does is from fights after slurring out incoherrent remarks, unless of course the fight is with a woman. His latest embarrassment is his inability to absorb criticism by his own fans. Get it in your head Larry…they’re Chiefs Fans, not Larry “The Lush” Fans. See ya later Cupcake.

Herschel Walker was a GREAT football player. While his years in the USFL may not count completely, they should count for something. His NFL stats are very impressive. He is 8th in all purpose yards. In 12 NFL seasons, Walker gained 8,225 rushing yards, 4,859 receiving yards, and 5,084 kickoff-return yards.[11] This gave him 18,168 total combined net yards, ranking him second among the NFL’s all-time leaders in total yardage at the time of his retirement; as of the start of the 2007 NFL season, ten years after his retirement, he still ranks eighth.[12] He also scored 84 touchdowns: 61 rushing, 21 receiving and two kick off returns for touchdowns.[11] Walker is the only player to have 10,000+ yards from scrimmage and 5,000+ return yards (all of which were on kickoff returns). He is the only player to gain 4,000 yards three different ways: rushing, receiving, and kickoff returns. He is one of six players (Jim Brown, Lenny Moore, Marcus Allen, Marshall Faulk, and Thurman Thomas) to exceed 60 touchdowns rushing and 20 touchdowns receiving. Another NFL record he possesses is that he is the only player with a 90+ yard reception, 90+ yard run, and a 90+ yard kickoff return all in the same season (1994). He is also the only player to record an 84+ yard touchdown run and an 84+ yard touchdown reception, in the same game (December 14, 1986). That same day, he had 100 yards rushing and 100 yards receiving. Walker is currently ranked eighth all time in all-purpose yards with 18,168, despite spending his first three seasons in the USFL.
I respect your opinion, Sir. Respectfully, however, I might suggest that you are wrong. The Who are typically mentioned among the top 3 or 4 rock bands in history, in the same breath with the Beatles, the Stones and Led Zepp. Ever heard of them?
The Who are charter members of the Rock Hall of Fame, and just this year were honored at the Kennedy awards, which is an A list plus event.
Lastly, were you alive in 2001 when the Who performed at the concert for New York following 9-11 in front of thousands of men and women NYPD and NYFD? Well, they stole the show from every other artist that performed that night. It was glorious. Watch that show and you’ll maybe understand why the Who are still relevant, especially in a stadium.
If you were 12 or 13 years of age, I would believe that your opinion is more valid. (How old are you?) But for the average Super Bowl attendee, who is probably mid-40’s, this is a brilliant choice, though long overdue.
Brett Favre beat the Steelers in a playoff game
Dec 24th 1995 Packers 24 Steelers 19 HA…………
You should ask someone like me what it was like when he owned the Houston Oilers back in the late 70’s and early 80’s. Rich oilman’s son who was silver spoon fed. Got everything he wanted…Earl Campbell to play. Moustached iron man who controled his team instead of his coaches…Bud Adams. He reminds me of Ted Kennedy.
Yeah, it was a crazy win, but still a win. I always felt they were going to be able to pull it out somehow. I was one of the few that stayed up and watched them come back from behind against Tampa Bay way back on that Monday Night Football game.
In spite of looking like a librarian, this one seems like a no-brainer to me. How could the Vikes let this guy go? They are having a dream season and he is one of the main reasons.
