The Buffalo Bills are giving defensive tackle Marcus Stroud a two-year contract extension (he is now signed through 2012) that includes $12 million in guaranteed money. The deal is potentially worth $16.5 million, making Marcus one of the highest paid players at his position. And if he achieves all of his bonuses, he could earn up to $28 million over the next four years.

Marcus immediately made his presence felt on the D-line in Buffalo. After a 2008 season that included 45 tackles, 2.5 sacks, two fumble recoveries and one forced fumble, he was named a Pro Bowl alternate. In my opinion, those are not Pro Bowl numbers, but it was a solid comeback type of season for a guy who had been hobbled by injuries the previous two years in Jacksonville. And he has to be credited for being a big part of improving the Bills defense from 31st in the NFL in yards allowed in 2007 to 14th last season.
