Wondering what the top Draft picks will look like in their new uniforms? Well, you don’t have to wait until August’s preseason games to find out. Last week at the Reebok NFL Players Rookie Premiere presented by EA Sports (I had to get all the corporate sponsorship tags in there), newcomers assembled at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum to have their pictures taken for their Donruss Playoff, Topps and Upper Deck trading cards. In addition to the photo shoots, the rookies visited a local hobby shop, hosted a football clinic for local youth, went head-to-head at the EA Sports Rookie Madden Bowl, and took part in media appearances and corporate hospitality events during their four days in L.A. Also, for the fourth consecutive year, Diet Pepsi was on-hand to capture footage for their season-long Diet Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Week and Rookie of the Year promotions.
It’s a fun event that’s now in its 12th year. I used to attend when it was held in Orlando, but since they switched to the left coast, I pretty much gave up on it. The last time I attended was in 2001 when LT, Drew Brees, Deuce McAlister, Dan Morgan, Michael Vick and Santana Moss were rookies. It’s still a fun event to keep my eye on.
