Brett Favre was planning to attend Green Bay Packers training camp today. But after speaking with general manager Ted Thompson yesterday, the two sides agreed to a compromise — Brett will not show up for camp and management will try to reach some sort of resolution to his unretirement dilemma. Last night from his home in Mississippi, Brett said:
“I had planned on reporting for the start of Packers training camp Sunday, but Ted Thompson asked if I would give him a couple of days to try to get the situation resolved. I agreed to do that. I don’t want to be a distraction to the Packers, and I hope in the next few days we can come to an agreement that would allow me to continue playing football. I’ve also spoken with Commissioner Goodell a couple of times this week, in hopes that he could be some sort of arbitrator in this. I hope he can be.”
Getting the situation resolved would mean a trade and nothing else as far as I can tell. The Packers have made it clear that Aaron Rodgers is their starting quarterback. And Brett has made it clear he doesn’t want to be a backup. So, there really is no other resolution for the Packers other than to trade Brett and get as much as they can for him. If Brett ever files that reinstatement paperwork, that is. The saga continues.

Well he “planned” on attending but didn’t show up. The is starting to become a joke. Brett needs to bow out gracefully and go fishing.
