Pacman Jones is Cleaning Up His Image

Over the past couple weeks, it’s become well known that the Dallas Cowboys want Pacman Jones. And vice-versa. Trade negotiations continue as I write this. And that’s all well and good, but there’s one big problem. In order to actually put on a uniform again, Pacman will have to be reinstated from his current suspension from the NFL. Now, as long as he keeps his nose clean, I believe that’s going to happen before training camp begins.

Meanwhile, Pacman is trying to spruce-up his image to make sure it happens. His most recent attempt was yesterday in his hometown of Atlanta where he handed out about 500 boxes of food and toiletries to locals for Feed the Children. Naturally, with his checkered past, I’m a bit skeptical about his intentions, but if he’s doing charity work and helping other people, how can that be bad? But it will take more than one event to prove he’s rehabilitated. Nevertheless, if his future actions match his current words, it’ll be a happy ending to a troubled career. Pacman said:

“In the Bible it says, ‘Let the past be the past and move on to the future.”’ I think for my situation, God did everything for a reason. Yes, I made a lot of bad mistakes. And I owned up to them. I want to tell the kids everything I went through, so they won’t have to.”

Oh, he’s good. He’s really good. Is this just a PR stunt? I certainly hope not. I wish the best for Pacman. I wouldn’t add him to my team just yet, but I believe he deserves another chance and I hope he makes the most of it. He’ll be reinstated and I hope he understands how lucky he is when it happens.

It would seem Pacman Jones is working on building his reputation. It won’t be an easy road, but it’s a start. If he really wants to continue in the right direction he should stay away from the cowboys and jimmy jones. He is a quality athlete, now hopefully he follows his comment and leaves the past in the past and looks toward the future.
