I am really tired of talking about Pacman Jones, but I felt I needed to update his ongoing legal battles with news that became public knowledge today. Pacman is prepared to take a plea deal that will get him probation in the infamous Las Vegas strip club triple-shooting so he can salvage his NFL career. Under the deal, Pacman will plead to a gross misdemeanor in exchange for a suspended one-year jail sentence. He also must attend an anger management program, complete 200 hours of community service within a year and submit to random drug testing. Of course, he is already subject to the NFL’s drug testing program.

Pacman’s attorney, Manny Arora, said the defense team believes they would have won a trial on two felony counts of coercion for inciting a fight inside the club. But that trial wouldn’t have happened for six months or even a year. In order for Pacman to get back on the field in the shortest amount of time, they had to adjust their strategy. Even so, the deal won’t help Pacman get back into the NFL this year. Commissioner Roger Goodell suspended him for the entire 2007 season. And there are no guarantees for next season, either. The saga continues.
