It didn’t take long for the New England Patriots to release defensive back Willie Andrews after his arrest for allegedly pointing a handgun at his girlfriend’s head yesterday. Willie was being held without bail pending a “dangerousness” hearing Thursday following his second arrest this year. The other arrest on charges of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and driving an unregistered motor vehicle occurred back in February. So, rather than deal with the stress, the team just cut him loose today. The Pats aren’t going to miss Willie that much. He did return a 77-yard kickoff for a touchdown last season, but he only made 24 tackles, most of which were during special teams play. They’ll have no problem finding another player to fill his limited role. Hopefully Willie can get his head screwed on straight and find work with another team in the future.
