With one season left on his contract, the Arizona Cardinals gave safety Adrian Wilson a new five-year, $37 million deal today. The contract includes $18.5 million in guaranteed money and Adrian will earn $22.5 million (plus incentives) over the first three years.
Adrian was in a reflective mood amidst the news:
“Every time I step on the field at the stadium, I look up at the names on the Ring of Honor and I always say, ‘One day, I want my number up there.’ I want my number up there next to Aeneas (Williams). I want my number next to Pat (Tillman). …read more
Cardinals Release Edgerrin James

As expected, the Arizona Cardinals released running back Edgerrin James today. The Cards also gave defensive back Rod Hood and defensive end Travis LaBoy their walking papers, clearing salary cap space for higher priority players like Karlos Dansby, Adrian Wilson and maybe even Anquan Boldin (imagine that).
It was Edgerrin’s wish to be released by the team last season when his playing time had dwindled to a mere backup role behind Tim Hightower. But later in the season, he would eventually regain a starring role with the team and he was a major contributor in helping the Cardinals get to Super …read more

If you CAN beat them, join them? That’s what Bryant McFadden is doing. The former Pittsburgh Steelers defensive back signed a two-year deal worth $10 million yesterday with the Arizona Cardinals –the same team he helped beat last month in Super Bowl XLIII. I’m sure Bryant would’ve been just as happy to stay in Pittsburgh with the Super Bowl champs and the NFL’s best defense, but it really is all about the money and he was happy to cash in on his four years of quality play with the Steelers and reunite with his former …read more

Adrian Wilson Fined $25,000

Arizona Cardinals safety Adrian Wilson was fined $25,000 for his hit on Buffalo Bills quarterback Trent Edwards last Sunday. I knew this was coming. Take a look at the replay. When a player puts the crown of his helmet into another player’s facemask and drives him to the turf, that’s unnecessary roughness. Adrian very easily could’ve gone lower, putting his shoulder into Trent’s midsection and wrapping him up on the tackle. This was a dirty play. I’ve always liked Adrian’s aggressive style, but this is just plain wrong and he would be lying to say …read more
Trent Edwards Suffers Concussion

Buffalo Bills quarterback Trent Edwards‘ workday came to an abrupt halt after just three plays this afternoon. Trent was looking down the gun barrel of Arizona Cardinals safety Adrian Wilson and completed a nice first down pass to rookie receiver James Hardy. But in the process, Adrian delivered a crushing helmet-to-facemask hit that gave Trent a concussion and knocked him out of the game for good. As he was being carted off the field, you could tell Trent didn’t really seem to know where he was or what was happening. It wasn’t a pretty sight. …read more
