Buffalo Bills Fire Head Coach Dick Jauron

Buffalo Bills Fire Head Coach Dick Jauron

The Buffalo Bills fired head coach Dick Jauron today. This really doesn’t come as any surprise. It was more an issue of “if not now, when?” And what better time than when you’re 3-6 and coming off three-plus seasons with a .421 winning percentage? Coach Jauron, while certainly a kind man who gave it all he had, simply could not revive a team that hasn’t made the playoffs since 1999. That streak ties the Detroit Lions for the longest active dry spell for any non-expansion team. All this being said, the Bills’ problems run deeper than the head coach, but …read more

Bud Adams Shows Bills His Middle Fingers

Tennessee Titans owner Bud Adams stuck both of his middle fingers in the air like he just didn’t care yesterday as the Titans were wrapping up a 41-17 win over the Buffalo Bills. I’m not sure what would possess an 86-year-old man to do this in front of 70,000 people. It’s bad enough when a player does it, but when an owner goes down this road, it’s pretty embarrassing.
What’s with “the finger” anyway? It’s like the Jerry Seinfeld joke. It seems like such an arbitrary, ridiculous thing to just pick a finger and show it to someone. It’s a finger. …read more

T.O. Just Goes With the Plays Called

T.O. Just Goes With the Plays Called

Judging from his demeanor at press conferences this season, I think Terrell Owens is just about ready to pop. He’s obviously frustrated. And rightfully so. The Bills are 3-6 and T.O. only has 26 catches for 366 yards and one touchdown. To put it mildly, this season has been a complete disaster thus far.
After a sideline outburst during today’s 41-17 loss to the Tennessee Titans, Terrell was visibly annoyed with the media and sarcastic with his responses in his postgame presser. He continues to use the phrase: “I’m just going with the plays that are called.” Translated, that means the …read more

Bills Stay With Dick Jauron as Head Coach

Bills Stay With Dick Jauron as Head Coach

With the Buffalo Bills off to a dismal 1-4 start—and following two horrific offensive performances against the Miami Dolphins and Cleveland Browns—it would seem that head coach Dick Jauron’s job would be in serious jeopardy. After all, he was on the head coaching hot seat before the season began, even with the offseason addition of receiver Terrell Owens and a much-ballyhooed no-huddle offense installed. Simply put, expectations were high. And they haven’t been met.
But according to Bills owner Ralph Wilson, no decision will be made right now to replace coach Jauron:
“Yesterday was so bad that it’s hard to make a …read more

Has Terrell Owens Lost His Mojo?

The Buffalo Bills had hopes for Terrell Owens when they signed him this past offseason. But he has been under-utilized, the Bills have been under-achieving, and after a 1-3 start, the team is one loss to the Cleveland Browns (0-4) away from having serious doubts about their chances of making the playoffs again this season—something they haven’t done in ten years.
The Bills vs. Browns matchup tomorrow is far from “Game of the Week” material. Outside of the stretch of 190 miles between these two cities, not many people are going to pay attention. And that probably irks Terrell—he of reality …read more

Terrence McGee Signs Contract Extension

This is Terrence McGee’s seventh season in Buffalo. But he’s only spent the past two as the team’s top cornerback—which means he gets to chase the opposition’s best receiver all over the field week-after-week. Obviously he’s been up to the task. In fact, last year he was the Bills’ leader in interceptions and pass breakups. So, he was awarded for his talents today. And a new four-year, $27 million contract extension will keep him in Buffalo’s defensive secondary.
Terrence was scheduled to be a free agent when this season ends. But he won’t need to spend any time thinking about that …read more

Tom Brady Returns, Finds a Way to Win

Tom Brady Returns, Finds a Way to Win

It wasn’t exactly the way he imagined his first game back from last season’s devastating knee injury would be. And it certainly wasn’t the way he drew it up in practice this week. But at the end of the night, New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady found a way to win a football game—a 25-24 nail biter over the Buffalo Bills on Monday Night Football.
Sure, the Bills practically handed the Pats the game with a bonehead costly late turnover. But Tom shook off some early rust and did what he had to do. He completed 39 passes for 378 yards …read more

Can Terrell Owens Save the Buffalo Bills?

Can Terrell Owens Save the Buffalo Bills?

When you factor in the early camp arrival and Pro Football Hall of Fame weekend, the Buffalo Bills had more time to prepare for the 2009 regular season than any other team (ok, the Tennessee Titans did, too). But heading into this 2009 NFL Kickoff Weekend’s opening slate of games, they are one of the league’s most uncertain teams.
Within the past few days, Bills head coach Dick Jauron fired offensive coordinator Turk Schonert and the team released their starting left tackle (Langston Walker)—two integral positions in the success of any offense. So with no time to test their suddenly new …read more

Buffalo Bills (Finally) Sign Aaron Maybin

Buffalo Bills (Finally) Sign Aaron Maybin

The Buffalo Bills announced the signing of first-round Draft pick (11th overall) defensive end Aaron Maybin today. In accordance with team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed. But we have our ways. Aaron’s deal will be for five years and $25 million with roughly $15 million guaranteed. Of course, that money is for what he did in college at Penn State because he hasn’t done anything at the pro level yet and he’s already at least $15 million richer. Such is the life of a high-profile rookie in the National Football League. I’m not saying Aaron won’t earn …read more

Allegations Surround Ben Roethlisberger

Allegations Surround Ben Roethlisberger

I’m finally breaking my silence on Ben Roethlisberger’s alleged (and I emphasize the word alleged) sexual assault case because I feel like it’s my job to say something. To recap the story, a woman has filed a civil lawsuit in Reno, Nevada, accusing Ben of sexually assaulting her last summer—yes, last summer—in his penthouse room at a Harrah’s casino in Lake Tahoe during a celebrity golf tournament. One year after the alleged incident, she’s suing for sexual assault and battery, false imprisonment and infliction of emotional distress.
From what I’ve gathered from a number of sources, there doesn’t seem to be …read more
