NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell notified Cleveland Browns receiver Donte’ Stallworth today that he is suspended indefinitely without pay from the National Football League, effective immediately. Following are excerpts from Commissioner Goodell’s letter to Donte’:
“The conduct reflected in your guilty plea resulted in the tragic loss of life and was inexcusable. While the criminal justice system has determined the legal consequences of this incident, it is my responsibility as NFL Commissioner to determine appropriate league discipline for your actions, which have caused irreparable harm to the victim and his family, your club, your fellow players and the NFL.”

The Cleveland Browns are doing more than staying competitive this offseason. The Browns are preparing themselves for a Super Bowl run. First, they locked up QB Derek Anderson for three-years yesterday. Then they got him another weapon on offense — former New England Patriots WR Donte Stallworth. The Browns are wisely building their team around their quarterbacks — Derek and Brady Quinn. GM Phil Savage said:
“Donte’ will be the major addition to our offense this year. He will bring legitimate speed, quickness and playmaking ability to the receiving corps and add a …read more

With free agency just hours away, I still can’t believe the New England Patriots don’t have a deal in place for wide receiver Randy Moss. His record-setting 2007 more than earned him the right to have been signed to a long-term deal by the Pats. He kept his nose clean and was a leader and good teammate. He’s Tom Brady’s favorite target. What more needs to be said? I feel like as soon as I publish this, news will break of his signing … with the Patriots. Still, New England has a …read more
Tom Brady Missing From Patriots’ Practice

For the second consecutive day, New England Patriots QB Tom Brady was missing from practice and the open locker room sessions. And his teammates and coaches are covering for him. WR Donte Stallworth joked that he would be subbing for Tom and running the option. Head coach Bill Belichick avoided the subject — with a smile. The fact that they are being so trivial with this tells me it’s nothing to worry about. I’m sure Tom’s just doing what’s necessary to be 100% for the Super Bowl in nine days. But if he’s …read more

I hate to say “I told you so,” but … the pregame hype between 5-0 New England and 5-0 Dallas wasn’t all it was built up to be as the Patriots hammered the Cowboys 48-27 today. Of course, I’m sure I wasn’t the only one who felt this way, but my pregame prediction turned out to be reality — Dallas is a good team, New England is an elite team.
Dallas will win their share of games this season. They have too much talent not to. I won’t go so far as to …read more
Patriots Continue WR Overhaul

EMQB is turning into a New England Patriots blog. That’s because the Pats seems to be wheeling and dealing above and beyond all the other NFL teams thus far in free agency. And for a team that competed in the AFC Championship game, the amount of quality players they have added is impressive.
A day after signing high-profile free agent WR Donte Stallworth away from the Philadelphia Eagles, the New England has signed another free agent wide receiver, this time former Cincinnati Bengal Kelley Washington, a former teammate of Stallworth’s in college at Tennessee. The Patriots gave Washington a …read more
