Patriots Sign Chris Baker

N.Y. Jets fans are not going to be happy with this news. The New England Patriots signed free agent tight end Chris Baker today. The Jets released Chris earlier this month with good reason — they didn’t want to pay him a $9 million option bonus payment that was coming due early next month. Chris is a fine player and has tremendous potential as a tight end in this league, but I wouldn’t want to pay him $9 million, either. He had good numbers in 2007 (41 catches) but tapered off last season with the …read more

Brett Favre Makes Jets Preseason Debut

National Football League Blogcast, NFL Blogcast
Brett Favre looked sharp during two drives (14 plays) in his preseason debut as the starting quarterback of the N.Y. Jets tonight. The Jets would eventually lose the game, 13-10, to the Redskins, but Brett finished his brief evening 5-of-6 passing for 48 yards and a touchdown to tight end Dustin Keller. 1st pass: 11-yard completion to Jerricho Cotchery
2nd pass: 10-yard completion to Chris Baker
3rd pass: 4-yard completion to Leon Washington
4th pass: Incomplete
5th pass: 19-yard completion to Jerricho Cotchery
6th pass: 4-yard TD to Dustin Keller

Lloyd: This is the safest pick in the Draft. Jake is signed, sealed and delivered. What you get with Jake Long is an NFL-ready player. He should be able to contribute right away and fill a hole that’s …read more

It was nice to see the sun shining in Indianapolis today. It certainly made getting around outside the RCA Dome and Indiana Convention Center much easier. Not that you would really need to go outside here, though. The Dome and CC are connected to much of the city with indoor walkways. I get a big kick out of this. I can walk all over the city without putting on a jacket in the middle of winter. And yes, I’m easily entertained.
The Media Work room was kind of quiet early on, but things picked …read more
