In response to some of his players’ (Jamal Lewis, Josh Cribbs) comments that the team quit against the Denver Broncos last week, Cleveland Browns head coach Romeo Crennel said it just isn’t so and took the remarks seriously:
“I think players respect me as a coach, they play for me as a coach so when that word ‘quit’ comes up you take it personally. The team is my team. The product that is out there on the field is a reflection of me. When they do good, I do good. When they do bad, I do …read more

The Cleveland Browns have become pretty vocal after last Thursday night’s devastating loss to the Denver Broncos. First, running back Jamal Lewis voiced his displeasure, saying that some players needed to “check their egos at the door.” Today, receiver and kick returner extraordinaire Josh Cribbs echoed those sentiments and spoke out about the team’s effort against Denver:
“When you have a team like that that comes into our house and we’re capable of beating them, that’s the first thing that comes to mind. We can’t figure out what man, but that’s what it looked like — …read more

The Buffalo Bills got rid of former first-round pick Willis McGahee, trading him to the Baltimore Ravens today. In return, they’ll have two extra selections in this year’s Draft (3rd and 7th rounds) and another in 2008. The reported seven-year, $40.12 million contract will put McGahee among the top-five salaried RBs in the NFL.So, who wins — the Bills or the Ravens? The way I see it, both teams come out looking pretty good. But, it’s still too early to declare a champion in this deal. I am leaning toward the Bills, though, because they have the potential, depending on …read more
Cuts Add to Free Agent Market

Every year at the NFL Scouting Combine, I look forward to receiving a folder of information from the National Football League Players Association. One of the items inside that folder is the listing of projected free agents. I enjoy thumbing through it to see who will be available on the open market and then matching team needs with who should be available. With the start of free agency just two days away, the action is heating up. Teams are releasing players they deem dispensable and resigning those they don’t want to get away.
What causes a team to release a player …read more
