Bills Trade Jason Peters to Eagles

Bills Trade Jason Peters to Eagles

The Buffalo Bills traded disgruntled left tackle Jason Peters to the Philadelphia Eagles today. In return, the Bills get the Eagles’ first round pick (28th overall selection) and a second-day pick in next week’s NFL Draft, plus a late-round pick in next year’s Draft. The Bills are also relieved of the headache Jason had become — not showing up for training camp last year and not showing up (so far) to OTAs this offseason.
The Eagles are hoping they get the same Jason Peters that made the Pro Bowl two years ago (and I emphasize two years ago). But first they …read more

Buffalo Bills Sign Terrell Owens

National Football League Blogcast, NFL Blogcast
In one of the more surprising moves this offseason, the Buffalo Bills signed enigmatic receiver Terrell Owens to a one-year, $6.5 million contract today. On one hand, this acquisition makes sense for Buffalo. They need the offensive weaponry. The Bills’ offense the past two seasons has been anemic. They were 30th in total offense two years ago and only improved to 25th in total offense last season. And quarterback Trent Edwards’ first two seasons — while showing flashes of brilliance — were nothing that would make me think he’s on the same path as, let’s …read more

Jason Peters to End Holdout

National Football League Blogcast, NFL Blogcast
Pro Bowl offensive tackle Jason Peters informed the Buffalo Bills today that he plans to end his summer-long holdout and report to One Bills Drive tomorrow, one day before the Bills open their 2008 season against the Seattle Seahawks. The team has already made the decision that Jason will not play Sunday against Seattle. And that’s obviously a good move. Bills Chief Operating Officer Russ Brandon issued this brief statement today:
“It is our understanding that Jason has filed a re-instatement letter with the National Football League and that he is reporting to One Bills Drive …read more

Langston Walker Injury Just a Bruise

National Football League Blogcast, NFL Blogcast
If you’re wondering what the extent of Buffalo Bills offensive lineman Langston Walker’s injured left arm is, rest assured it’s just a bruise according to head coach Dick Jauron’s postgame presser following an impressive 20-7 preseason win over the Indianapolis Colts tonight:
“Langston had a bad bruise. We took him in for x-rays and the x-rays were negative so we’re optimistic. He got wacked by something and it was either one of them or one of us that hit him. I think it might have been one of us, which is nobody’s fault. It happens.”
Langston is …read more

The Buffalo Bills broke training camp outside of Rochester, NY yesterday without Pro Bowl offensive tackle Jason Peters who hasn’t reported to the team since last season. Jason has missed 21 practices, 16 walkthroughs, two preseason games and 28 total days since camp opened July 25. That translates to the Bills fining him more than $420,000 — or about $15,000 for each day he’s missed. And that doesn’t include the $8,600 Jason was docked for missing two mandatory minicamp practices in June. The fines get steeper once the regular season begins. He’ll be fined …read more

Bills Beat Steelers in Toronto Series Debut

National Football League Blogcast, NFL Blogcast
In the first of eight games the Buffalo Bills will play in Toronto through 2012 (five regular season and three preseason), the first team offense looked very sharp in a 24-21 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers. Quarterback Trent Edwards was 9-of-11 for 104 yards and two touchdowns. He also had a critical 22-yard run from his own endzone. Tight end Robert Royal caught both of those TD passes from Trent. Wide receiver Lee Evans had three catches for 55 yards. And despite missing Pro Bowl left tackle Jason Peters (still a training camp holdout), the …read more
