The Arizona Cardinals had their final major practice before Super Bowl XLIII today. Quarterback Kurt Warner looked very sharp. It was probably his best day of the week. Only three balls hit the ground during the two-hour and 20 minute workout. The team spent a good deal of time during the middle of practice working on punt protection. Head coach Ken Whisenhunt said:

The Arizona Cardinals spent some of their practice time in the rain today. A steady drizzle hit the Cards about an hour into a two hour and 15 minute workout. But it didn’t stop injured defensive players Travis LaBoy and Antonio Smith, who both worked extensively. Running back J.J. Arrington did some offensive reps but was held out of special teams’ work at the end of practice to protect his knee.

Cardinals Prepare for Super Bowl XLIII

The Arizona Cardinals had a fast-paced practice for two hours and 15 minutes at the Tampa Bay Bucs facility today. It was 20 minutes of walk-through work for the both the offense and defense; 12 minutes of special teams work; team stretching; and drills in helmets, shoulder pads and shorts. Most of the team periods lasted 8-10 plays. After practice, about 20 players (including Kurt Warner and Larry Fitzgerald) hung around to work on individual aspects of their game. Ten games into the 2008 season, Edgerrin James wanted out of Arizona. Five days from now he’s starting in the Super Bowl. What a difference two months makes. Can you imagine? Edge actually wanted to be released by the Cards. And this was before the team lost four of their final six games. He might have ended up in Detroit or Cincinnati.
