Does anyone else think the defending Super Bowl champion N.Y. Giants are very quietly standing as one of only two remaining unbeaten teams? I mean, we’re not forgetting about them, are we? All they did this afternoon was drub the Seattle Seahawks 44-6 without their top receiver (Plaxico Burress – suspension) to improve to 4-0. Kicker John Carney is in his 21st (yes, 21st) NFL season but his first with the Giants. I found his post-game perspective of his new team quite accurate, though:

Does anyone else think the defending Super Bowl champion N.Y. Giants are very quietly standing as one of only two remaining unbeaten teams? I mean, we’re not forgetting about them, are we? All they did this afternoon was drub the Seattle Seahawks 44-6 without their top receiver (Plaxico Burress – suspension) to improve to 4-0. Kicker John Carney is in his 21st (yes, 21st) NFL season but his first with the Giants. I found his post-game perspective of his new team quite accurate, though:

“A composed team. Being new here, I can still see a group of players with integrity. No bad apples causing distractions. They’ve already reached the pinnacle here. This group is establishing their quest to do the same. There are a lot of variables that go into becoming that kind of team with that kind of approach. I see a mature offensive line with a passionate bunch of defensive players mixed with a lot of young talent across the board.”

Sounds like a recipe for success. Again. After all, wouldn’t that be an accurate description of last year’s Super Bowl XLII champion Giants? It’s been easy (almost trendy) to get excited about a lot of other teams (a couple right in the NFC East). But who’s playing better football than the N.Y. Giants right now? The respect they deserve has already been earned.
