The Green Bay Packers contacted the Miami Dolphins about a possible trade for defensive end Jason Taylor today. It’s just an exploratory inquiry, but with Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila rehabbing a surgically repaired knee, the Packers are suddenly in the market for a pass-rushing DE. Former Dolphins coach (and now Green Bay’s defensive tackles coach) Robert Nunn said:

The Green Bay Packers contacted the Miami Dolphins about a possible trade for defensive end Jason Taylor today. It’s just an exploratory inquiry, but with Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila rehabbing a surgically repaired knee, the Packers are suddenly in the market for a pass-rushing DE. Former Dolphins coach (and now Green Bay’s defensive tackles coach) Robert Nunn said:

“Anytime you can get a guy of that caliber, you’d want to try to get him. But I don’t get involved in anything like that. All I know is that when I coached him, he was a great football player and a great person. I hope it works out for him because he’s had such a great career, and I’d hate to see it end on a bad note in the public’s eye. The guy is such an outstanding individual and a great football player, and I just hope for the best for Jason and hope it ends well, and he’s able to compete for a Super Bowl.”

Even without recently retired QB Brett Favre, I guess you could say the Packers are a reasonable consideration for the Super Bowl. After all, they did make it to the NFC Championship game last season. But I can’t see Jason spending his “twilight” years freezing his butt off in Wisconsin. Still, if it ends up being his only out and the two teams can agree on a deal, it might just happen. But I’m still guessing warm weather for Jason Taylor.
