Vince Young Leads Surging Titans

While the Tennessee Titans started their 2009 season 0-6, I still thought they were a good football team. At least on paper. I also thought of them as a bunch of underachievers. Hence, I presumed, their poor record. For whatever reason quarterback Kerry Collins couldn’t pick up where he left off last season, Vince Young could this season. It’s pretty hard to explain these things. It was the exact opposite in 2008.
But one thing’s for sure right now. After a thrilling 20-17 win over the Houston Texans last night, Vince Young has the hot hand and the Titans are 4-0 …read more
Vince Young is Back, Titans Win First Game

After starting the season 0-6, the Tennessee Titans threw caution to the wind and let former starting quarterback Vince Young have his old job back. And following his 15-for-18 passing performance in a 30-13 win over the Jacksonville Jags this afternoon, maybe they wish they would’ve made that decision a few weeks ago. Actually, it was at the order of team owner Bud Adams that Vince start over Kerry Collins today. So head coach Jeff Fisher begrudgingly made the “official” announcement a few days ago and now the Titans have their first win of the 2009 season.
So, where does the …read more
Titans Owner Wants Vince Young to Start

After a surprisingly miserable 0-6 start, Tennessee Titans owner Bud Adams has seen enough. Apparently, Mr. Adams has ordered head coach Jeff Fisher to bench starting quarterback Kerry Collins and start Vince Young. And while Kerry certainly can’t be blamed for all the team’s problems this season, I can’t think of a better time to make a decision like this than after your team loses a game 59-0, as the Titans did to New England two weekends ago.
But coach Fisher insisted any quarterback decision will be made between owner and coach:
“We’ve been communicating through the whole process, and we don’t …read more

The Tennessee Titans may have lost their best defensive player, Albert Haynesworth, earlier today. But they weren’t about to lose their starting quarterback. So they gave Kerry Collins a two-year, $15 million deal with $8.5 million guaranteed. Kerry was pleased to stay in Tennessee:
“This is where I wanted to be, and my family loves Nashville. It is just part of the process. Free agency comes about, and there are lots of talks and rumors. At the end of the day, this is where I want to be, and I am happy it worked out.”

Last week, Tennessee Titans defensive end Kyle Vanden Bosch said his team would lose a game this season. In fact, he said they would lose more than one game. Apparently, he’s bringing some practical thinking to the difficulty of achieving such a fete. Or he’s just trying to take the pressure off his team about even thinking of going undefeated. But with each passing week, the Tennessee Titans keep winning and moving one step closer to perfection. And Titans head coach Jeff Fisher isn’t impressed:
“It’s nice to win a ballgame and not play well. We …read more

Tennessee Titans quarterback Vince Young is injured inside and out. And he’s on the verge of losing his job and the respect of his teammates. But he really only needs to look as far as teammate Kerry Collins for advice on not only how to handle the very situation he is currently going through, but also how to beat it. According to Kerry, who is now the Titans’ starting quarterback:
“I felt the pressure and I was trying to be something and someone I wasn’t. Being a first-round pick, being the quarterback, I felt I needed …read more

Injured Tennessee Titans quarterback Vince Young spoke out against the rumors that he was tired of playing football today. He took questions for about 15 minutes after practice today (he didn’t practice) and set straight the idea that he was not committed to being the leader of the Titans. It was his first time to speak publicly since a bizarre incident in which Titans head coach Jeff Fisher, concerned about Vince’s mental state, called police for help in locating him Monday night:
“I’m fine. I’m good. I just needed a day-and-a half to get through some …read more
